Waverley Heights Academy is a Californian boarding school funded and controlled by The Aviary - an organization of powerful gifted human beings. Although it is outwardly a prestigious regular high school, it is secretly home to gifted teenagers from all over America, most of whom began manifesting powers just before their Freshman year, as is traditional amongst their kind. Danger lurks outside and within the walls of the school.
When paranormal phenomena begins to threaten student lives at WHA, no one initially suspects that a Junior in their midst is hiding his rare gift of necromancy for fear of social repercussions. Unable to properly harness his unwanted power, he allows it to spiral haphazardly out of control. Meanwhile, a brilliant and elusive criminal mastermind plays a cat-and-mouse game with the President of The Aviary, threatening the very secrecy of the gifted ones around the world.
WHAT? So few males? To the boy factory you go! Onward, ho! Seriously, though. If you would consider making us a few more men, WHA staff members and Avians, that would be legitimately keen.
It's September and although the summer sun still shines bright over California, Waverley Heights Academy is back in session. Principal Blandford would like to take this opportunity to remind all students (Seniors, this really means you) that Freshman hazing is strictly prohibited and punishable by a life sentence in the detention hall.
Also, if you are displeased with your roommate assignments, don't go bitching about it to the school administration. Due to having been short-staffed over the summer vacation, they have pointedly decided to ignore most of your housing requests this year, and will continue to pointedly ignore you in the office. If you actually wound up with the roommates you wanted, the chances that you baked the school admins a cake, brought them gifts or told them they looked thin last semester are high to most definite. Condolences go to the new roommates of Horace Pew.
