Waverley Heights Academy Time is an invision forum-based High School RPG set in a prestigious boarding school in California. Elements of drama, comedy, horror, mystery, spoof and the supernatural entertwine in our thriller of a main plot. Filled with murder, crime, high school drama, scandal and intrigue, our numerous sub-plots will also keep you on the edge of your seats and surprise you with their complexity.
WHAT is one of the most thought out and well-organized RPGs on the internet. We have our main plot and countless sub-plots fleshed out for the next two years of in-game time, and have structured our forum in a manner that will allow roleplayers to seek the required information they need in an efficient manner. Upon gaining membership to the RPG, you will soon discover that an encyclopedia of information pertaining to the world of WHAT will be at your fingertips. At the moment, we have about 200 characters and have been going strong since January 2005.
The RPG forum is accessible only to our members, so as to prevent the theft of our posts, threads, plots, images and ideas. Once you have been accepted to the RPG, you will be given the URL of our forum and specific instructions on how to sign up.
Even IF you already know where our forum is located, please note that we will reject all user accounts that sign up, unless they have been accepted through our website here first. Non-members will be unable to view any of our forum boards and posts without an admin-activated account.
Due to the complexities of our plot and world, we require only DEDICATED roleplayers who are willing to put in the required time, effort and enthusiasm to make the RPG work. If you are going to sign up for characters, then abandon the site for weeks or months on end, please refrain from applying. You will simply be wasting your time and ours, and the Admins will be forced to either seize or delete your characters so as not to hold up plots.
The environment at WHAT is laidback, friendly, close-knit and relaxed, so we would also prefer to have sociable and drama-free roleplayers who are willing to integrate themselves into the community and participate in chats and plotting sessions over IM programs (in particular AIM and occasionally, MSN). Shit-stirring, online fighting and hissy fits of any kind will not be tolerated as we would like the site to be a comfortable place for everyone to chill.
As far as writing requirements go, we are not strict about the length of posts (400 - 500 words per post is recommended, though we understand that it is sometimes necessary to post more or post less, depending on what the thread requires). However, the majority of RP-ers on the site are advanced and intermediate-advanced writers, therefore, we will expect a mature grasp of the English language, good spelling and decent punctuation. If you are a beginner with no experience, you may find it hard to work with the rest of our roleplayers. In general, we would prefer it if you’d hone your skills at beginner-level RPGs before applying to WHAT, though our Newbie Admins are always happy to help and guide those of a beginner-intermediate and intermediate level. While we don’t wish to be snobby about who we admit to the RPG, please understand that it is difficult to work on threads when all the participants are contributing posts of vastly differing standards.
Having said that, at the end of the day, we are not looking for would-be Shakespeares who are going to take an entire week just to write one flowery, brilliant post. We are looking for writers who can churn out decent, interesting posts that will further our plots every day or so. If you are a writing genius but simply don’t have sufficient time (or are unable to write fast enough to make valid contributions), WHAT may not be the RPG for you.
When applying for new student characters, please keep in mind that due to population control (we currently have more girls than boys, and are trying to strike a better balance between the genders), for every female student anyone creates, their next student character has to be a boy. In other words, your character creation process needs to follow a Boy-Girl-Boy-Girl-Boy-Girl ratio (though you may feel free to start with a girl first instead of a boy). However, if you wish to create two boys in succession, please go ahead. You are just not allowed to created 2 GIRLS in succession. We apologize for the current restrictions. They are necessary due to the fact that the majority of roleplayers seem to prefer playing girls to boys, and the gender imbalance is detrimental to many plots of the RPG.
However, please note that the above only applies to STUDENTS. If you wish your first character to be an ADULT female, you may go ahead.
Lastly, before applying for your first character, please read the following thoroughly:
- RULES
- RPG Setting
- Plot
- Cast
- Characters
We advice reading through our lists of Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman, Staff, Teenage and Adult characters so as to avoid the creation of a new character that is too similar to one we already have. Also, we are not kidding when we tell you that you MUST read the rules! It will be very apparent that you failed to do so if you try to apply without having read them first.
Thanks so much for visiting WHAT.
