Please read the following before starting your own threads on BAMF. This thread contains the BAMF thread policy, which includes standardised formatting which will make the RPG easier to navigate, and allow plots to be followed chronologically by readers.
Admins may modify your thread subject lines, links or details if they are found to stray from the correct formatting required.
TITLESTitles should be capitalised appropriately (e.g. 'Not Another Rainy Day' or 'In Search of a Chocolate Frog'), and tell us something about the thread. Please don't use song titles and such just for the sake of it, unless they describe the thread aptly, or relate to it in some way.
DATESBold And Made Free roleplay takes place in 2019, twenty-one years AFTER Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.All members need to DATE THEIR THREADS to avoid confusion about the chronology of events. Here is how to go about doing it:
1) Use the DATE/MONTH/YEAR format.
It should look like something like this:
01 Sept 2019 or
13 Nov 2019.
2) You must place the date in your TOPIC DESCRIPTION (that's the space you fill in underneath the 'Topic Title' of a new thread you start).
THREAD DETAILSThe start of each thread must contain the following information (BB codes are given below):
1. Open or Closed ThreadClosed threads are plot threads that have been pre-planned between roleplayers, and therefore, only characters involved in the plot may participate. Open threads are either open to any characters on the RPG who may wish to jump in, or open to any character within a specific group (e.g. Gryffindors or Aurors) that the thread starter may specify.
2. CharactersA list of all participating characters should be provided. If the thread is an open thread, new characters should be added to the list when they join in. In addition, characters who are significantly mentioned but aren't actually roleplayed should be marked as NPCs. For example, if Molly Weasley is heavily mentioned in a thread with Ginny Potter and Ron Weasley but isn't actually roleplayed by her RP-er (perhaps she is in the room throughout the thread, cooking dinner and shooting them warning glances at various points in their conversation), then she should be listed as an NPC:
Ginny Potter, Ron Weasley, Molly Weasley (NPC)Please remember that if the NPC actually has a roleplayer on BAMF, permission must be sought to use them as an NPC in a thread. If the NPC is a canon character who currently has no roleplayer, then they may be used in threads without permission -
so long as they are portrayed TRUE TO CHARACTER, and aren't used in a way that will have drastic repercussions for their future roleplayers. As a courtesy to fellow RP-ers, if the NPC (with no roleplayer on te board) is eventually taken by someone, do contact them via PM to let them know you used their character as an NPC in the past, and link them to the thread in question.
4. Thread Continuation Links must be provided to each character's previous thread,
as well as the previous thread in the plot it is part of (if any). If not applicable, state 'N/A'. (Please note that when listing the thread that a plot is CONTINUED FROM, the previous thread
does not have to be a thread containing characters in the current thread. It should be the thread that comes chronologically before the current one in terms of the PLOT it is part of, even if it involved a completely different set of characters.) Finally, once the
current thread is over and a new one is started, the 'PLOT CONTINUED AT:' section should also be edited to include links to the new thread, so that readers can easily move from one thread to the next if they are following the plot. Should the thread already be locked, contact an Admin to edit it and post the link for you.
4. Description A
brief description about the general plot or direction of the thread must be provided. However, if the thread is an open thread, state what you would LIKE the thread to be about, and what kind of characters should join in.
The following are examples of the 'THREAD DETAILS' section at the start of every thread...
EXAMPLE #1Closed (Pre-Planned Plot) Thread with an NPCThread Details

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~EXAMPLE #2Open ThreadThread Details
OPEN OR CLOSED: Open
CHARACTERS: Harry Potter, Teddy Lupin, Bryce Larkin and 2 others (their names will be added once the characters join the thread).
PLOT CONTINUED FROM: The Circle of Life
PLOT CONTINUED AT: COMING SOON
CHARACTERS' PREVIOUS THREADS:
HARRY: Ginny and Tonic
TEDDY: The Metamorphma-Goose
BRYCE: Larkin In The Shadows
DESCRIPTION: Harry Potter, the Head of Aurors, holds a secret meeting with Teddy Lupin and Bryce Larkin - two Aurors who are currently undercover in Hogsmeade investigating The Coulter Circle. Two Hogwarts students accidentally stumble upon the meeting and mistake it for something else entirely, to hilarious consequences. (This thread is open to any two Hogwarts students - preferably friends - who would like to join in. The students in question should not be friends or relatives of Harry, Teddy and Bryce. As for what they mistake the meeting to be, that is up to the students' roleplayers to decide.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Please use the following code at the start of your threads: ENDING A THREADThe ending of every thread should contain a link to the next thread in the plot, as well as a list of threads that each character moves on to. Naturally, at the time of the thread's ending, the new threads may not yet be posted or even planned. It is therefore the responsibility of each roleplayer to contact the person who made the FINAL POST in the thread, and ask them to edit the new thread links in, once they become available. You may also ask an Admin to do so. Below is an example of a proper thread ending (to be tacked on to the end of the thread's final post).
